It's Not Post Secret, It's Post Sacred

Just so you know, I took down the Post Sacred blog. Thank you to all of those who followed it and especially those who submitted postcards and ideas. When I started it up, I had a very specific tone and a specific kind of absurdity in mind for it and the thing is I was not able to maintain the site and keep that tone where I wanted it to be - that's not anything against the people who participated in the blog, mostly it is that I just choked. So anyway, just in case you were wondering.

All good. And I completely understand that trying to be funny yet not hurtfully sarcastic can be a difficult line to draw and to maintain. It really was a good idea, even if at this time it's not going to work out.

Totally understand. Loved the humor and the effort. Thank you!

I love when people tell me that their favorite non-RM BYU player got "a letter from the first presidency" excusing them from missionary service because their mission WAS to play sports and influence people that way. *eyeroll*

I hear you. There's a weird double standard for athletes.

If that's true about the letter, that is bizarre. If it's not true about the letter, it's bizarre that that story is going around. Either way it's weird that we accept that story. Also either way it is bizarre that we stress to our daughters the importance of marrying an RM because of the experience and testimony that young man would have as a result, but if he's good at basketball, that's just as acceptable.

But on a related note, I recently received a letter from the first presidency telling me that my calling for the rest of my life is running this blog and that I don't ever need to take another calling in the ward or stake because this blog will do more to perfect the saints than even being a bishop ever would.

Sad to see it go. I loved it.

Now I'm all curious to see the ones that didn't keep to the tone you intended.

And yeah, lots of people don't have a good sense of humor. Not that I'm talking about anyone reading this comment, of course.

Well just to clarify, when I was talking about the tone, it's not that people's submissions were anything I disagreed with, I just wanted it to be more absurd. More ridiculous. Not so much something that we can all relate to, but more crazy - like the one of the girl getting baptized at age six because she is cute.

I don't know what I am saying.
